Spray tan vs. tanning bed. Which do you prefer and why?

Spray tans can look fake and ruin sheets and clothing. Remember the orange Charlize Theron when she won her Oscar?





Beds can be harmful, but as long as you don't burn and see a dermatologist regularly, they can indeed be beneficial.





Ever wonder why skin cancer rates are up when we're all going nuts using sunscreen daily? Or using self tanners and staying out of the sun, yet the stats on skin cancer still go up?





Ever think that maybe the chemicals you put on your skin are being absorbed into your body? Nicotine and birth control patches are absorbed - clearly, anything that you use on your skin goes into your body.





I maintain a light tan with tanning beds. I don't go long enough to burn and use a 35spf powder sunblock when in the sun (by a company called Colorescience) so I never burn even though I am Polish/English/Danish, blonde with brown eyes and really don't burn easily.





I believe maintaining color, whether by the sun or tanning beds, NEVER burning is the best defense, along with a close relationship with a good derm. Tanning, either natural or sunbeds, also helps in absorbtion of calcium by helping your body process vitamin D. Tanning beds also helped an uncle's psoriasis and for acne, well, derms DO use sunlamps and charge you a copay for the honor, don't they? And that works.





Just wait, something will soon come out regarding sunblock lotions and/or the chemicals in self tanners being more harmful than even a bad sunburn.





My rant for the day. I'm sure I'll get a ton of thumbs down ratings for my unpopular opinion but it all makes sense if you think about it.

They both have there pros %26amp; cons. I like the Tanning bed look alot better but Spray tan is Definitely better on my skin!
I like spray tans. I don't want to have skin cancer or leathery skin from a dumb tanning bed.
i have been tanning not for over 3 years and i hate the spray tans. first of all it could come off on your face and your face will look all blotchy. if u are really white than the spray tan will prolly make u look orange anywayz. i say get in a bed and tan...it is sooo relaxing anywayz...and it gives u some time to yourself!!!
they both look fake and out of fashion. seriously. plus the bed gives you cancer.
Spray and creams...Beats worrying about skin cancer!
personally, i just soak up the sun, but not too much, and i have a totally awesome tan! but spray is actually safer, so i would use that if i had to.
Tanning bed. Lasts forever, and takes longer to wear off. Also, does not leave splotches like the spray tan does.
Definatly spray tans, tanning beds are too dangerous, risk of skin cancer and premature aging.
Spray tan looks soo fake, and comes off easily. And alot of times, isnt applied correctly and doesnt look even.

spray tan!!!!! more safer that tanning bed. havn't u heard of that girl who got a scar from a tanning bed???????? spray tan is like sooooo much convenient too.
tanning bed. i have oily skin, so when its winter and not sunny my skin is dull and i get spots, so if i have a spray tan, i just look dull and spotty and orange. whereas when i use a bed it makes me look tanned and gets rid of the spots and dullness.
Spray. Tanning beds can cause health problems and will make your life misserable in the long run. Spray tans are healthy and safe, but you have to make sure you don't miss a spot!
